Luronne is a 27 foot sailing cruiser, built in 1973 and
completed by her first owner. He was a friend of the family,
so we have known Luronne from birth and sailed in her with
him as far as the Channel Isles. I bought her in 1981 since
when everything apart from the mast and hull have been
replaced. We sail mainly in the Solent, being moored at
Fareham at the top of Portsmouth harbour, although we have
made voyages to Weymouth, and cross channel to Cherbourg and
Alderney.
The name Luronne is the furthest point, a rock, on the
French coast that the previous owners reached in their
earlier boat. It is Breton for ‘tarty lady’!!
We are members of the Sabre27 Owners Association, see
www.sabre27.org.uk,
and I edit the Association's magazine, Rattling Sabres.

John is joint owner of Franglais, a 40 Dufour,
just a couple of years old. She is seen here
photographing Luronne as she hurtled past. |
